Enhancing Special Education with AI: Opportunities and Ethical Considerations
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the landscape of special education by providing innovative tools to enhance personalized learning, accessibility, and student engagement. However, the integration of AI also raises ethical concerns, such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and equitable access. This study explores the opportunities and challenges of using AI in special education, focusing on adaptive learning systems, assistive technologies, and speech therapy applications. A mixed-methods approach was employed to analyze the impact of AI on academic performance, engagement, and accessibility while addressing ethical considerations. Results indicate significant improvements in learning outcomes but highlight critical ethical and practical challenges. The paper concludes with actionable recommendations to balance innovation with ethical responsibility in AI-driven special education.
